Master in International Human Rights Law - Lund University
Human rights are a growing sector in law creating opportunities for legal expertise across international institutions, domestic authorities, law firms and academia worldwide. The Master's Programme in International Human Rights Law at the Faculty of Law in Lund has as an ambition to equip an elite cadre of globally recruited students with the skills, insights and theories needed to excel in this sector.
For more than two decades, the programme has been a collaborative venture by the Faculty of Law at Lund University and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI). This makes the education its provides unique: no other LL.M. programme in the world offers the joint resources of a prestigious law school and an implementation oriented human rights institution.

Price/Fee: For citizens of countries outside of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, tuition fees of 130,000 SEK (13.836 EUR) per study year (260,000 SEK – 27.672 EUR - for a full two year programme.
Scholarships: Lund University awards a number of scholarships to fee-paying international students each year.
Accommodation: Non EU/EEA students are guaranteed accommodation by LU Accommodation.
Application process:
Application to this programme is open to students with a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) or an equivalent degree of at least 3 years, with law/legal studies and the main subject.
English Language Requirements: This programme requires "English 6/English course B", the equivalent of an overall IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL score of 90.
Application Deadline: Next chance to apply is for the programme start in autumn 2017. The application period is between October 2016 and 15 January 2017 (preliminary dates).
Application Fee: Citizens of non-EU/EEA countries are required to pay an application fee of 900 SEK (approx. 95.78 EUR).

1. transcripts and degree certificate
2. a statement of purpose in English (1-2 pages about yourself, your background and why you want to take the programme)
3. two letters of recommendation in English, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, German, French, Spanish or Italian.
Programme Structure (120 ECTS)
• Compulsory courses: International Law; International Human Rights Law I; International Human Rights Law II; Procedural Law of Human Rights; Humanitarian Law.
• Master Thesis (30 ECTS): The fourth term consists of a compulsory course on writing an individual and independent Master Thesis within the chosen specialisation. The course features individual supervision.
Career prospects: This programme will open doors to a broad array of international and domestic careers within the legal sector: the UN system or regional organisations, international or domestic courts, the public or the private sector. Lund's alumni find employment with international organisations, NGOs, private law firms and public authorities, as this LLM prepares students thoroughly for the challenges of their future profession and gives them a competitive advantage over holders of other Master’s degrees in human rights.
