The South African-German Centre for Transnational Criminal Justice was set up in 2008 as one of seven Centres of African Excellence, supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the German Foreign Office. The Centre is based on cooperation between Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and is housed in the Law Faculty of UWC.

It offers the LLM- and PhD-program "Transnational Criminal Justice and Crime Prevention – An International and African Perspective".

The Humboldt University of Berlin established in 1810, is a university in the central borough of Mitte in Berlin, Germany.
